Goldwell History

The brand was founded in 1920 by German entrepreneur Hans Erich Dotter. He had no connections in the hairdressing industry. Nevertheless, his vision was to build a company focused exclusively on professional hairdressers as business partners. In 1948, he founded a chemical factory to produce hair products exclusively for stylists. The first product, an innovative cold perm, was also introduced that year. After producing several products, the brand expanded into new markets in 1958. In 1979, Goldwell brought its products to America. In 2005, thanks to new innovations, the company developed Goldwell Styling. It was later renamed Stylesign. A few years later, it introduced ‘new kerasilk’, a long-lasting keratin treatment that can be used at home. In 2014, it launched a new communications strategy that it continues to implement today: creating sustainable value in the salon through close, effective collaboration.
