Layrite
The brand was founded by the passionate Donnie Hawley. In 1999, it seemed that barbershops were breathing their last. Despite this, Donnie Hawley opened a barbershop called Layrite in Harleywood, Orange County. He was still perfecting his clients’ hairstyles. He soon noticed that his techniques were being hindered by the traditional petroleum-based products he and his clients used. These products were not easy to rinse out. To avoid limiting hairstyles while maintaining a high standard as a barber, Donnie set out to find another solution. He experimented by mixing Vaseline, Mason Pomade, and Old Spice aftershave, and began developing his own product. The end result was a water-soluble pomade. Over the years, this Original Pomade came to be known as the water-based pomade of the USA.
Customers noticed that the pomade was the only product that really made their hair fall into place, and the Men’s Grooming Products brand was established. The products are designed for barbers and consumers looking for quality and authenticity.
Layrite products
The brand offers two hair pomades. These pomades have a lovely, mild vanilla scent and provide excellent hold all day long. The Deluxe Original Pomade is suitable for short, fine, or normal hair, while the Deluxe Super Hold Pomade is suitable for extremely curly or thick hair. Depending on how damp the hair is when applied, these pomades give the hair a medium to high shine. All pomades are water-soluble, so they’re easy to wash out in the shower.
In addition to its popular pomades, the brand also offers other products for men, including clay, cream, hairspray, oil, and aftershave. The Clay provides strong hold and gives hair a perfect matte finish. The Cream is water-based, provides medium hold, and gives hair a beautiful shine. The cream doesn’t harden, so you can restyle your hair throughout the day. The Hairspray is a thickening spray that adds volume. The beard oil is a thick oil that tames beard hair and prevents itching and beard dandruff. The aftershave has a distinctive Bay Rum scent and provides a soothing, protective, and refreshing effect.
