7 Tips for Staying Active Longer
1. Set specific goals
Set a specific goal for yourself. Make sure it’s realistic so that it’s actually achievable; otherwise, it’ll just be demotivating. For example, set a goal like, “Next month, I want to walk for at least half an hour every day.” Did you achieve your goal? Then set a new one right away. That way, you’ll keep growing and working toward a new goal each time.

2. Treat yourself
Have you reached your goal? Or have you lost a few kilos? Treat yourself to a reward! Not in the form of cake, but buy something nice for yourself. For example, treat yourself to a luxury skincare product from Olaplex or go for a wonderful massage. If you’ve achieved your goals, you have every reason to be proud. This will also give you new motivation for your next goals.
3. Be prepared
Do you have a busy life with lots of unexpected situations? Don’t let that be a reason to skip your workout. Try to make it easier on yourself by being prepared. Do you have a busy day at work with lots of meetings? Bring your workout clothes with you and head straight to the gym after work. That way, you won’t be tempted to just lie down on the couch when you get home.
4. Measure progress
It’s so rewarding to see the progress you’ve made. Take a photo of yourself at the start of your journey, and then take another one three months later. If there are times when you’re feeling a little unmotivated, just remind yourself that you want to see a difference in the next photo. It’s so rewarding to see the changes in your body.
5. Do it with a friend
Find someone you can go to the gym with. That way, you can motivate each other on the days when you’re not really in the mood. Sometimes there are evenings when you’d rather just stay on the couch, but your workout buddy can drag you out of bed.
6. Make it part of your routine
Make sure exercise becomes part of your daily or weekly routine. Set aside specific times for it, so you know what to expect. By making room for it in your week, it’s much easier to stick with it.
