How do you use a hair mask?
It's very easy to incorporate a hair mask into your hair care routine. You can choose to use a hair mask instead of your conditioner, but if you have extremely dry hair, you can also simply use both your conditioner and hair mask.
When applying a hair mask, it’s important that your hair isn’t soaking wet, but rather slightly towel-dried. This prevents the hair mask from becoming diluted. Next, distribute the hair mask throughout the lengths and ends of your hair. Don’t apply the hair mask to your scalp, because that could cause your hair to get greasy again more quickly after showering. Of course, you don’t want that.
How often should you use a hair mask?
How often should you actually use a hair mask? Well, that really depends on the condition of your hair. For example, if you regularly bleach your hair, we recommend using a hair mask at least once or twice a week. In that case, choose a hair mask designed for bleached hair. Do you have healthy hair, and do you avoid coloring it? Then you’re the best judge of when it’s time for another hair mask. For example, after summer vacation, when your hair has been exposed to a lot of sun. That’s a good time to start using a hair mask regularly again.
How long should you leave a hair mask on?
In general, every hair mask has a processing time. Some hair masks need to be left on a little longer than others. If you’re wondering how long you should leave a hair mask on, the instructions are always listed on the product itself. If it’s not listed, aim for about 3 to 5 minutes. That gives the product enough time to work and allow your hair to repair itself.
