How do you remove hair dye?
Sometimes you end up with roots showing or faded hair color, and then it’s very tempting to try dyeing your hair yourself. Unfortunately, dyeing your hair at home doesn’t always turn out as planned: you only wanted to go a shade darker, but it ended up several shades darker. Or maybe there’s an unwanted tint visible after dyeing your hair. In short: your hair coloring went wrong. Don’t panic! There are several ways to remove hair dye from your hair. We’ve listed all the tips for you!
Anti-dandruff shampoo

Anti-dandruff shampoo combined with baking soda can help remove semipermanent hair dye.
What should you do?
Mix 2 tablespoons of anti-dandruff shampoo with 1 tablespoon of baking soda. The key here is the proportions. Depending on the length of your hair, you can use more or less.
Apply the mixture to wet hair, then let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes.
Rinse the hair and wash it with regular shampoo.

What should you do?
When used hot, olive or coconut oil helps remove semipermanent hair dye while moisturizing the hair. Therefore, first heat the olive or coconut oil in a double boiler.
Wash your hair thoroughly with shampoo.
Apply the oil to towel-dried or damp hair. Work the oil through your hair from the roots to the ends.
Let the oil sit for about an hour.
Rinse the hair with warm water and style it as desired.
Vinegar
Vinegar rinses are often recommended by hairstylists. This is because vinegar helps reduce scalp issues and odors, and also leaves hair soft and shiny. In addition, vinegar combined with olive oil is very effective at removing semipermanent hair color.
What should you do?
- Mix 2 cups of vinegar with 2 cups of olive oil
- Wash your hair thoroughly with shampoo and conditioner
- Apply the mixture to the hair and let it sit for about 5 minutes
- Rinse your hair with warm water
