All About Microdermabrasion

What exactly is microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion is all the rage in the skincare world because it quickly delivers beautiful results for the skin. But what exactly does this treatment involve? And what does it actually do for your skin? Microdermabrasion is an intensive exfoliation treatment that removes dead skin cells. A vacuum suctions your skin, while at the same time a microdermabrasion device sprays microcrystals onto your skin. The microcrystals are usually made of aluminum oxide. These crystals do not damage the skin ! And yes, you can now safely use your own microdermabrasion device at home. Of course, you’ll achieve the best results when you perform this treatment regularly.

Microdermabrasion at home? Here's how to do it!

When you think of microdermabrasion, you often think of expensive treatments at a beauty salon. Nothing could be further from the truth. You can also do this skin treatment at home. That way, you take matters into your own hands. And during the COVID-19 pandemic, that’s especially nice, since you can’t always count on beauty salons. We’re happy to give you a hand so you can perform your own microdermabrasion treatment at home.

Step-by-Step Guide to At-Home Microdermabrasion:

1. Order the PMD microdermabrasion device (PMD Personal Microderm Classic) from us

2. Make sure your skin is thoroughly cleansed before you begin. For example, try the high-quality skincare products from Annemarie Borlind or Squalan.

3. Let your skin dry thoroughly before treating it.

4. Choose a disc for the device. You can practice with the white disc. Once you’re ready, switch to the blue disc. This is the softest of all the discs. Use the small discs for the face, and the larger discs for the body.

5. Dead skin cells may clump together due to the suction. Therefore, always make sure the dark filter is in place on the device.

6. Now you can treat your skin with the homemade microdermabrasion device. Tighten the skin you’re treating so that the device glides easily over it. Move the microdermabrasion device in an upward motion across the skin. NOTE: Do not pass over the same area more than twice during a treatment.

7. Moisturize and restore your skin's pH balance with a toner.

8. Don't forget to wash the cap and filter after use.

9. Allow your skin 6 to 7 days to recover before repeating the microdermabrasion treatment.

How exactly does the microdermabrasion device work?

The PMD Personal Microderm Classic performs three functions at once:

Exfoliation

You use the microdermabrasion device to treat the surface of your skin. The disc contains aluminum oxide crystals. These gently remove dead skin cells. This triggers and activates the body’s natural healing process to produce new skin cells. These new skin cells replace the dead skin cells that were removed.

Suction

The suction effect (vacuum effect), used in combination with the peel, helps rejuvenate the skin. It also stimulates collagen production and cell renewal. In addition, this suction effect cleanses clogged pores. Trapped dirt and sebum are removed. And voilà—radiant skin!

Absorption

Dead skin cells form a barrier that prevents your skincare products from being absorbed deep into the skin. PMD removes these dead skin cells. As a result, skincare products are absorbed up to 20 times deeper. This also means that the effectiveness of your beauty products increases significantly. And before you know it, that youthful, radiant skin you’ve been dreaming of for so long will be visible!

Which microdermabrasion device?

Do you want younger, fresher-looking skin without too much hassle? Then choose the PMD Personal Microderm Classic. The PMD combines aluminum oxide crystals with vacuum suction, just like the devices used in clinics. So you’ll achieve the same results as you would at a clinic. But now, you can treat yourself at any time of day. This fantastic device is also more affordable for your wallet. It’s no wonder this skincare tool has garnered attention from the Dr. Oz Show, Extra, Style Magazine, and New Beauty, among others!

Which disc should I use with PMD?

The PMD Personal Microderm Classic comes with various discs for the device.

White Training Disc: Use the white disc to test your skin's sensitivity. You can also use it to practice operating the device.

Blue disc: Do you have sensitive skin? If so, you should go for this blue disc.

Green disc: The green disc has average abrasion resistance (peeling strength).

Small disc: Use the small disc for the face and sensitive areas.

Large disc: Intended primarily for use on the body.

Who is microdermabrasion intended for?

Do you have fine lines, wrinkles, age spots, hyperpigmentation, an uneven complexion, acne, acne scars, or other blemishes? If so, microdermabrasion can do wonders for your skin.
